Contest: Selfie of the Year 2024

Fotografiska is now running a brand new contest - Selfie of the Year 2024. Do you have a really unique, unexpected, spectacular or funny selfie? We want you to participate in Selfie of the Year 2024! There are lots of great prizes in the pot.

HOW TO ENTER

If you have a unique, unexpected, spectacular or funny selfie you can submit your selfie HERE. Your entry can be submitted between March 7 and March 21. A jury will then select ten finalists for the entire Swedish population to vote on until April 12, when the winner will be unveiled at Fotografiska Stockholm.

Note: No more than one contribution per person.

Are you wondering what counts as a selfie? Don't think too hard! If you appear in the picture while taking the picture itself and think that your contribution can be classified as a selfie, we probably think the same regardless of whether it is only you who appears in the picture, if others appear, if an animal appears or whatever you have come up with.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

If you win, you not only win the title "Selfie of the Year 2024", but also a lifetime admission to Fotografiska, the winning selfie as a Fotografiska poster, an instax camera, accommodation for two in Stockholm and dinner at Fotografiska in connection with the unveiling. The winning selfie will also be exhibited at Fotografiska.

WHY FOTOGRAFISKA IS ORGANIZING THE SELFIE OF THE YEAR

Over time, selfies have become a central part of our everyday lives. It's a way to capture moments - small and large from the couch to the mountaintop - and a way to express who we are. Therefore, we decided to create an installation - The Selfie Matter - that highlights selfies from a historical, psychological and popular culture perspective.

While working on the installation, we also noticed that some selfies were sporadically nominated as candidates for selfie of the year, and the idea was born to create a new competition that can engage the whole of Sweden in something that almost everyone does.

The hope is that more unique, unexpected, spectacular and funny selfies will see the light of day, spread joy, and make people want to capture and express themselves through selfies in the way they want. Perhaps the winner, as voted for by the Swedish people, can also say something interesting about our time.

Just as a selfie can be almost anything, this competition can end up just about anywhere. That's what we think will be so exciting, and we're really looking forward to going through all the entries!
