Dance performance – 'Birth Liquid' by Mona Namér

Explore a dreamscape through immersive installation, performance and film.

Tre tjejer ligger på rygg med kuddar runtomkring sig.

Welcome to explore a dreamscape through an immersive installation, performance and film. On May 4, Fotografiska will host a unique and immersive performance created by dancer and choreographer Mona Namér in collaboration with artist and designer Moa Marklund.

The performance is shown twice during the day and you choose the time that works best for you when you book your ticket. Between the performances, you can explore the visual installation that surrounds the room. Secure your place by booking your ticket now!

About the performance

The performance combines the dance performance 'Birth Liquid', which premiered at Moderna Dansteatern in 2023, and the film 'A Bath In My Mother's Womb', with music by Little Dragon, which won Best Experimental Short at the Next Generation Indie Film Awards in Los Angeles in 2022.

Combining the two works, the dancers' bodies explore birth, chaos and stillness in a dreamscape. The story is inspired by the process of metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly and symbolizes the natural and human quest for harmony, rebirth, chaos and stillness in a dreamscape. The installations are a living representation of the cyclical nature of life, with three main points symbolizing its different phases. Each movement is an essential part of this journey and is guided by the three points representing birth, anchoring and growth. Using dance from Hip Hop and House culture, the works reflect on identity, vulnerability, struggle and collective dreams.
