Artist Talk: Viviane Sassen

A conversation on 30 years of boundary-breaking photography

Black and white portrait of a woman with long hair sitting backwards on a wooden chair. She is wearing a dark jacket and looks calmly into the camera against a neutral background.

How do you capture 30 years of creativity in one conversation? On the opening day of Phosphor: Art & Fashion, we meet the photographer Viviane Sassen in a unique Artist Talk. The conversation will be moderated by Samanda Ekman, writer at Bon Magazine.

From surreal shadow plays to iconic fashion images, Sassen’s visual world is as surprising as it is magical. Now she shares her journey, her process, and the ideas behind the works that have made her one of today’s most acclaimed photographers.

In this talk, we’ll get an exclusive insight into her creative process, her exploration of shadows, bodies, and colors, and how she uses the camera as a tool to create new perspectives on the world around us.

The exhibition Phosphor: Art & Fashion, opening the very same day, brings together nearly 200 works – including several never-before-seen photographs and video installations – making it the most comprehensive presentation of Sassen’s artistry to date.
