Kvinnor bakom kameran, 1848–1968

Group Exhibition

A black and white portrait of a smiling woman holding up a classic Rolleiflex twin-lens reflex camera in her right hand and a large camera lens (Carl Zeiss Magnar 4x) in her left hand.

On December 5, Kvinnor bakom kameran, 1848–1968 opens, a group exhibition in collaboration with the Hasselblad Foundation that completely rewrites Swedish photography history through a previously hidden photographic treasure spanning nearly 200 years. Female photographers have existed for as long as photography itself, yet their work has often been erased and forgotten.

Previously presented at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg, the exhibition now returns in a new format based on the book Women Behind the Camera. The book is the first major survey of professional female photographers in Sweden, presenting stories and images that, in many cases, are being shown for the very first time.
